2 Minute ReadSo you’re sitting at your desk, doing the same thing you do every day, and your boss walks in the front door. She doesn’t say “Hi.” She just walks past with her head down. She goes straight back to her office. Now the employees in your office are emailing back and forth… “Someone get her a broom…The witch is back!” Sounds like something off a movie right? Well, this has also happened in real life…I’ve seen it.So what does this tell you? Me….Sit down, shut up, do your work, and don’t bother the boss. Sounds like a plan, right? Wrong. Where is the engagement, the inspiration and the excitement? Isn’t that what your boss is supposed to do? The leaders of the company are responsible, in some way or another, for the motivation of their employees. Now, let’s say you’re sitting at your desk, doing the same old things, and your boss walks in the door excited and stops to say “Hey, I have the greatest new idea to tell you about! I need your opinion!” Then what do you think? Put the broom back in the closet people; she’s ready to get something accomplished today!

"A leader creates purpose."

That is what a leader does. A leader is engaging, enthusiastic and empowers his/her employees to bring forth their opinions and ideas. A leader sets bold goals. Creates purpose. A leader gives the employees of the company something to be excited about; something to strive for. What happens when your manager or supervisor is excited about the work the company is doing? You, in turn, get excited too. You enjoy what you’re doing and look forward to reaching the company’s goals. And you might even be inspired to examine your personal goals to see how well they align with what the company is striving for! At least that’s what happens to me…
